Deep Vein Thrombosis is a clot that forms in the deep veins of the leg. It is dangerous to have strenuous exercise because it can cause a piece of clot to break off that can then travel to the lungs causing a Pulmonary embolism, to the brain causing a stroke, or to the heart causing arrhythmia. It is vital that a person with a DVT not do any strenuous exercise until cleared to do so by their DR.
