Blood in BM,'s: Blood in bowel movements is abnormal and warrants investigation by a physician or gastroenterologist. Bright red blood can be from hemorrhoids, inflamed rectum, anal fissure,diverticulosis of the descending colon, inflammatory bowel disease like ulcerative colitis, or growths in the colon or rectum. If you are bleeding heavily or having abdominal pain,go to the emergency room for prompt care.
