See a GI doctor: An individual over 40 years old with altered bowel pattern (constipation mentioned) and abdominal discomfort should see a health care professional for a detailed history and physical exam including a rectal exam and stool test for blood. A gastroenterologist consultation probably indicated as well as a colonoscopy.
