Fecal retention: Constipation in a 4 yr old can be treated using apple/prune juice and increasing his fiber and fluid intake. If he is withholding poop, (purposely keeping it in) that will require a visit with a behavioral therapist. Either way, start with your pediatrician for a thorough exam to rule out other problems.
