It depends...: ...on exactly what HSV test you had. If you were having genital symptoms and swab was positive by DNA testing (PCR) or culture, false positive results are very rare; you have genital herpes for sure. Blood test interpretation depends on the details. If strongly positive (ELISA value 3.5 or higher), you have HSV2, but not necessarily causing symptoms. If positive but lower, maybe false positive.
