Bacterial infection?: Unusually severe herpes might do this, but the blood test result is strong evidence against it. (The IgM HSV test is poor, but the IgG component is reliable.) No other STD does this. Best guess is a bacterial infection like staph or strep, perhaps complicating an underlying dermatitis like eczema. See a doctor ASAP if you're having the problem now, or within a day or two next time it happens.
