Doctor can examine: In general, a person can catch lice from another person only if the second person has lice or eggs that can hatch. It doesn't matter whether or not the infested person shows visible signs of lice, but most lice-infested persons are itching a lot. A doctor can diagnose lice in-person, but online consultation might work (especially if camera has macro lens). Medications are like those for head lice.

Nits, which are tiny eggs of the louse, can be stuck to hair shafts. Dandruff resembles white flakes that are on the scalp or throughout the hair. Perhaps you have both. See dermatologist to confirm.
