I have had hives for 4 months and during that time girlfriend has genital herpes outbreak. i had cold sores as a kid. could my hives be from herpes?

If widespread: hives, probably not herpes, if located in an area that follows normal nerve pattern, could be herpes/shingles. Hives is allergic response, shingles a residual from chickenpox from an earlier time.
