A member asked:

Asking again: if i kiss somebody on the lips (face) can i get herpes, even if they only have it on their genitals? & i don't ever touch there

A doctor has provided 1 answer

No, but...: In real life, things are not 100% certain except for maybe "death and taxes." People with oral herpes shed viruses when they have lesions and when they don't have lesions, although it is probably less likely when they don't have lesions. It is considered ok to catch Type 1 oral herpes. Genital herpes is usually Type 2, and is in some, but not many, people's mouths. Kissing means sharing viruses!
