Sounds like two: possibilities (either or BOTH)...Bacterial tonsil infection (most common =streptococcal but STAPHYLOCOCCAL infection also common an your description is a "match" for that organism AND/OR Infectious mono!!!!! (A simple blood test=diagnosis Hope this is helpful Dr Z

No cancer : I donot think so it is cancer ,it looks like more like a infection so I will suggest you to see a ENT doc
