I requested a hpv test after testing negative the past five years ( five years ago i had cervical hpv). if it comes out negative am i still contagious?

No need for retest: It was a mistake to have another HPV test. if you have been sexually active in the past 5 years, probably you have been reexposed and likely reinfected with HPV. A positive result now probably would not be recurrence of your past infection. Regardless of your new test result, you can safely assume that previous infection is gone and no longer contagious. Your more recent infection(s)? Maybe.
