Probably not: Contraceptive pills are no longer considered useful or effective for treating a suspected "functional ovarian cyst" whether it is follicular cyst or a corpus luteum cyst. It is difficult to predict if or when a functional ovarian cyst "will go down or go away". It is also quite difficult even after 6 weeks to tell for sure if a 5 cm ovarian cyst is benign or malignant. Consult a Gyn oncologist.
