A 28-year-old male asked:

I am male. can you spread hpv if the pubic area (the part with the hair and the wart) is covered with latex but the penis itself is left uncovered?

Probably yes: First, genital warts are uncommon in the pubic area, so maybe it was something else. However, people with HPV often are infected at sites other than visible warts, and if the pubic lesion IS a wart, there's a good chance the penile skin also is infected and could transmit the virus.
