Help understandingBC: Birth control prevents ovulation by maintaining a level of particular hormones. If you have been taking it for quite some time, you are not ovulating. When you take placebo pills and see bleeding, it is withdrawl bleeding not associated with a regular menstrual cycle. Be careful because drinking too much alcohol can affect contraception.
