I tested positive for high risk hpv but negative for the strains that usually cause cancer. so why am i still considered high risk? i'm confused

Several high risk: There are over 150 related hpv like cancers and thete are at least a dozen high risk hpv subtypes that can cause cancer. Two of these types 16 and 18 are responsible for the majority of hpv related cancers. Hope this helps.

Your risk is that you may still acquire HPV 16, 18, or actually may have it not yet detected.

Your risk is that you might acquire HPV 16,18, or have it at a les than detectable level, and can also "donate" to your sexual partners.
