Relax sphincter: The purpose of Botox is relaxation of the rectal sphincter which is a common source of pain and may allow faster recovery. Risks are low with little probability of spread. Excessive injection may result in fecal incontinence. It involves a few injections and the pain may be mitigated by topical anesthetic.
