Exam needed: Hsv lesions are usually easy to recognize and if necessary the virus can be cultured this is worthwhile for future treatment.

Apthae: These could be aphthous ulcers. There is no one known cause for aphthous ulcers-viruses can cause, trauma, and chemicals irritants (like toothpastes). Certainly hsv could fall into that category. Other viruses include coxsackie (hand foot and mouth dis.) and measles. If it is run of the mill apthae, some people think lysine helps. It is an otc supplement. See your doctor to evaluate this.
