Yes: To really get the problem under control you and your partner need to be treated SIMULTANEOUSLY since you can give the infection to him/her and keep it going back and forth. Males need the ORAL medication (See Precautions re: alcohol consumption.. and the female COMPLETE a COURSE of the gel......Hope this helps! Dr Z

BV: Doubt that the sequence you describe will alter the efficacy of your treatment, but this is not a condition which always responds easily. If this turns out to be a failure go back and discuss with your doctor. There are other avenues of management.
