Bloody show: I would call your OB in this case. IF you were closer to 36 weeks I wouldn't be too worried, but at your gestational age you could be having preterm labor or evidence of incompetant cervix. The mucus plug when it comes out at once is the size of a palm of a man's hand dark green with old blood typically. Recent sex may also cause bloody show, but again call your OB's office answering service

Call your doctor now: Notify your obstetrician *immediately* even if you aren't feeling contractions. Your fetus would need intensive care but is viable at this time. The location of the placenta has to be determined, your cervical dilatation has to be checked, you need to find out if you are leaking amniotic fluid & you may need further testing to see if you carry Group B strep, among other infections. Don't wait.
