COLD sore: Do not let the term Herpes concern you with this condition. In all likelihood, your 10 yo daughter has the common Herpes simplex Virus-1 that causes cold sores, which the majority of the population has and is not sexually transmissible. The doctor may have been better served to explain that to you. This can be contracted though basic contacts and again, as stated is not sexual in nature.
