Here are some ...: Known to us, once inseminated in the vagina, the sperms may survive for 3-7 days during which sperms competitively swim through cervix, uterine cavity, Fallopian's tube to fertilize the awaiting egg. But, how long does the lucky sperm take to swim to the egg is an open question since no study has been specifically done to answer your question. So, I guess fertilization take place in 1-7 days.

Minutes: Once sperm enters the uterus it takes minutes to reach the tubes where the egg is. Sperm that doesn't gain immediate entry is held in the cervical mucous and released into the uterus over time.

Several minutes: It doesn't take sperm long to reach the egg for fertilization. Sperm can reach the egg in a matter of minutes. During intercourse, sperm is also picked up and saved by the cervical mucous and sent towards the egg over many hours.
