How soon does the sperm reaches the egg? does the sperm need capacitation to fertilize the egg? how long does the sperm capacitation take? thanks!

Answers: Sperm capacitation occurs during the travel through the cervix, uterus, then the fallopian tubes. Capacitation needs to take place prior to the sperm being able to fertilize an egg. Sperm could potentially reach an egg within hours after ejaculation.

No: You can not feel that. The initial fertilization process when the sperm penetrates the egg is less than a second. It can take minutes, hours or even a day or two for the spetm to reach the egg.

How long do the x and y sperms take to reach the egg?

Sperm: Sperm can reach the egg in as little as a few minutes if the egg is waiting there. There is not a strict rule about 'how long' for x vs. Y sperm, though the x-bearing sperm on average swim a little slower.

About 30min to a day: There isn't a official exact time from ejaculation to fertilization, but it's probably a half hour to a day or so. The egg has to be already out there hanging around, waiting for the sperm, in order for the sperm to get there and fertilize it quickly (half hour to half day or so). Otherwise, it can take days to reach an egg, if the egg hasn't even come out of the ovary yet.
