A 28-year-old female asked:

What are the chances of a sperm fertilizing an egg while on nexplanon? i understand implantation of fertilized egg is unlikely but if i get regular periods, does that not mean an egg is released and if a sperm is available it could fertilize the egg?

Technically, an available egg could be fertilized and not "implant" on the uterine lining , so the "fertilized egg" would not result in a viable pregnancy. Nexplanon is progesterone, and this may prevent implantation proximate to spontaneous ovulation.
