Sputum....: Sputum is what is coughed up from the airways. If the sputum is discolored, like green, yellow, red, etc., it may mean you have acute bronchitis, an infection of the airways. If so, see your doctor so it can be diagnosed and treated. If you smoke, you need to quit to decrease airway inflammation and your doctor can help with this as well.
