Yes: Most stomach ulcers are associated with a bacteria known as helicobacter pylori (h. Pylori). And that treating it is the first line of care for most people who are diagnosed with stomach ulcers carrying this bacteria. In fact the diagnosis and treatment has been so effective, in addition to the use of new medications to decrease and block stomach acid that stomach surgery for ulcers is rare now.
