Burping: You may have GERD but it's more likely that you have excess gas in your stomach due to air swallowing(aerophagia) and the more you try to belch, the more air you're swallowing. Avoid drinking much liquid while you're eating; take something like simethicone or mylanta after meals to prevent gas build-up. Drinking semihot water when gassy helps break down the gas. See a gastroenterologist as needed.

Burping: Common cause of burping is swallowed air, specially those who eat quickly. Some kind of food and beverages may cause burping as fried food, caffeine, or chocolate through relaxation of gastro- esophageal sphincter. GERD may cause burping but usually associated with heartburn, nausea and water brush. Keep in mind, burping few times after meal regarded as normal.
