Is it safer to use meloxicam than to use motrin?

Mobic (meloxicam): Mobic (meloxicam) is theoretically safer than Motrin for the stomach. Both carry warnings for cardiac disease. In the absence of kidney or heart disease both are safe to use in moderation.

No: Recent studies have suggested that Ibuprofen (motrin) is the safer drug because of its lack of cardiac risk compared to other nsaids. The GI risk from motrin, however, may be slightly higher than Meloxicam although that is questionable.
