A member asked:

Is it normal to see endometrial tissue on a pap smear right after period ends?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

it is normal, howeve: Exfoliated endometrial cells are commonly seen in specimens, obtained during the proliferative phase of the menstrual cycle. However, endometrial cells have been considered a potential harbinger of endometrial adenocarcinoma when seen in cervical/vaginal cytology preparations of postmenopausal woman. In a woman 40 years old or older endometrial cells should be reported and follow up need.
