Yes: Best way to treat overbite is braces. There are other treatments, but none nearly as effective. Cause of pain probably not your overbite. Your dentist and an orthodontic specialist should team up to make your mouth healthy, functional, stable, and esthetic. See your dentist asap for the pain and ask for referral to orthodontist for the overbite.

2 problems: Your pain needs to be treated first. See a dentist as soon as possible for an evaluation and find out what is causing the pain. An overbite typically does. Or cause pain. Your dentist can refer ypu to an orthodontist to treat your bite.

Need Help: Pain can derived from the teeth, gums, facial muscles, and jaw joints. You should start by seeking the services of a dentist, who can determine the source of your pain. If the overbite is the primary source of your discomfort, then a referral to an orthodontist for orthodontic consideration would be appropriate.

I would first: Consult with your general dentist to determine the cause of the pain. He can also obtain the appropriate xrays and then refer you to an orthodontist. Hope this helps.
