A member asked:

Does a overbite that covers all of the bottom teeth severe to the point braces are needed?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Normal vertical overbite is approximately 27% (top teeth cover about 27% of bottom teeth). You describe an overbite of approximately 100%, 4 times deeper than normal. If front teeth do not couple properly, occlusion of back teeth can be compromised as well as proper function. Please see a qualified Orthodontist for an Initial Examination (usually free) and a discussion of your malocclusion.
