Treat the Thrush 1st: Thrush, also known as a fungal infection, should be treated asap. See your dentist, orthodontist, or oral health care specialist for proper treatment. Like all removable dental appliances, proper cleaning with a toothbrush, toothpaste, and even soaking with an alcohol based mouthwash is a good idea. If the appliance is acrylic based, denture cleaner works too. But take care of the infection asap.

Super clean: First see dentist or physician to rx the candida fungal infection. Anti-fungal meds may be recommended. Keep appliance clean. Brush gently 2x/day. Use otc denture cleaner (follow pkg directions) every day. Periodically soak retainer in diluted 3% hydrogen peroxide or 1:4 dilution of chlorox in water (it's like chlorinating a swimming pool) followed by denture cleaner.
