A member asked:

How many calories should a 10 year old eat per day?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Calorie intake: There is no definite answer for this question. Every person has a basal energy expenditure (just being alive) and energy used in activities. Children who are growing need some calories beyond the total energy expenditure and people who are dieting need a few calories less. A very active 10 year old may need >2000 calories a day while a sedentary 10 year old may only need 1000 calories a day.
