Different causes: This can happen from many reasons..Depends case tocase.Lots of dentist do free cosult try to find someone in the area..And can help determine exact reason..Somtimes could be allergic reaction from tooth paste..Some infection..Some lesionlots of other causes..

Need examination: It is impossible to diagnosis without a complete exam and history. If you are describing a white line about next to crowns of teeth on cheek it may be a 'linea alba' which is very common do to biting cheek... Hard to tell what you mean by 'welp'.

False economy: You can't afford not to see a dentist. Any lesion should be evaluated immediately. It must be seen, examined, palpated, etc. Can't do that over the computer. It's worth it...Give up your computer cable bill for a month and instead pay a dentist to examine you.
