Might be TMJ: Post op pain such as this is usually do either to the needle or strain in your jaw muscles from staying open. The best medicine right now is rest the jaw, soft diet, no gum chewing, Ibuprofen or similar meds. This should resolve in a few days. Moist heat applied to the area can help soothe the pain and relax the muscle as well.

Very common: Trismus due to masseter muscle spasm is very common after dental treatment. Regardless the cause, treating trismus: first with ice packs, then moist heat, then physical stretching. You can correct the trismus sooner and return more quickly to normal life.
