A member asked:

Ever since i had an iv put in the back of my hand i've had these bumps or knots in my veins. can this be a serious problem?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Very common: I'm an inpatient doctor and see this often. This should go away in days. Sometimes this is from inflammation of the skin or veins because the IV irrigated it. The may even me a very small clot in the veins. You can put a warm wet towel over the area for 15 min every hour to help. It should improve. If not after a few days or if getting worse, then get it checked out.
