Etiology: Nf 1 also called von recklinhausen, caused by single gene disorder on chromosome 17 and causes non cancerous lumps. Nf 2 also called central neurofibromatosis caused by mutation of merlin in chromosome 22q12. 10% of all nf and causes bilateral acoustic tumors.

NF: Nf-1 characterized by optic glioma and cafe au lait spots, where nf-2 characterized by a tumor of both hearing nerve in both side in addition to menigioma in the brain and neurofibromas in the peripheral nervous system.

Several things: Neurofibromatoses are genetic disorders of the nervous system.Mainly affect growth and nerve cell tissue.Known as neurofibromatosis(NF1)&(NF2).NF1 is the more common,multiple café au lait spots(patches of tan or light brown skin) and neurofibromas(soft growths on or under the skin).Enlarged deformed bones and curvature of spine.NF2 mainly benign brain tumors, acoustic and vestibular neuromas.
