Yes; needs treatment: Most thyroid cancer is papillary or follicular. They are relatively slow growing and very treatable. If well treated, few people die from the cancer. Untreated, it certainly can be life threatening. See your endocrinologist. More rare thyroid cancers are medullary and anaplastic. These are more aggressive, but fortunately much less common.

Could be: Any cancer is life threatening, although certain types of thyroid cancer are slow growing and treatable. No need to panic...But definitely get it treated correctly.
