DVT: Pain and swelling can be caused by dvts although not all dvts cause symptoms. It would be unusual to have intermittent symptoms though. Depending on your symptoms and risk factors you may need further evaluation. Discuss with your doctor.

DVT: Active, healthy 27 year old unlikely to get dvt. Women who take oral contraceptives are at greater risk. But i see that you are a male asking the question. Other risk factors include, post surgery, prolonged immobilization, protein c and s deficiency, lupus, cancers.

Need Ultrasound.: The symptoms that you describe would be unlikely with dvt. Dvt does not come and go and usually there is associated swelling of the thigh or calf. The gold standard to make the diagnosis would be a venous duplex ultrasound to see from the groin down. If your symptoms are above the groin then a ct would be indicated but it doesn't sound like this is the case. You should see a vein specialist.

Yes: Would be unusual for a male of your age to have a DVT unless you have an underlying coagulopathy. More likely something else. An ultrasound of the venous system is an inexpensive non-invasive evaluation for dvt.
