What causes close up depth preception issues?

Presbyopia muscles: As we get older we gradually lose our ability to focus on things closer to us. Our "near vision"- this loss is called presbyopia. It is corrected by adding a "close up" refraction to your glasses- for reading called "an add." this helps with depth perception up close. Any issue of eye alignment can also cause this. Muscle misalignment is called strabismus. Lastly, retina problems in the macula.

Poor stereo sight: If you have defective stereo vision (your ophthalmologist has a test for that), then you will have poor depth perception both near and far. This can be due to poor vision in one eye. Or due to a defective stereo center in the brain. Generally these are fixed defects but your ophthalmologist can define it for you and offer correction if that is possible.
