Good oral hygiene: First of all you must know that there is no cure for gingivitis but elimination of the gum infecxtion. If you dont go for regular cleanings and are good about your oral hygiene the gingivitis will recur. You can't sterilize your mouth and the bacteria and plaque and food particles will bring back gingivitis to your mouth. So you have work to do every day to keep your mouth healthy.

No cure: Bacteria will always be in your mouth. The load of certain types of bacteria will cause you to have different degrees of inflammation, infection, bone loss, and/or periodontal/gum disease. Also, other species like s. Mutans thrive in low ph envirnoments which causes decay/cavities.. So the answer is always do your best with oral hygiene homecare and profess. Cleaning visits with hygienist.
