The correct ANA: If you are being tested for lupus be certain the correct ANA is performed. It is the immunofluorescent ANA - done by ifa. Some of the central labs have tried to switch to a technique to screen for lupus enzyme techniques that are not as precise. Guard against this. If the ANA by ifa is positive then testing for ANA subsets such as: sm, rnp, ssa, ssb etc depending of the clincal setting.
