When doing exposure therapy for my social anxiety will talking on the phone help lower my anxiety when talking to people in person?

Exposure Therapy: Excellent question. Talking on the phone will help you feel more comfortable little by little and then you can use exposure therapy to speak briefly, in person, increasing the time and/or the intensity of your face-to-face conversations till you feel more comfortable and more confident.

Exposure Therapy: Exposure therapy is supposed to work by putting you in a situation where you are exposed to the thing that makes you anxious without the real threat. Social anxiety is pretty complicated. To answer your question, it depends what part of social interactions make you anxious. Assuming you have a therapist, ask about what's going on. If you don't, look into it. Don't try to treat yourself. Best.
