See a dermatologist: Zostrix (capsaicin) is a nonprescription cream for shingles pain, but be aware that it may make pain worse before decreasing it. If you're not allergic to aspirin, ibuprofen, or naproxen, you can try one of those. Your doctor can prescribe stronger pain meds or other drugs like Gabapentin or amitriptyline.
