I contacted shingles 9 days ago. i am finished with my meds given. my sores still painful. ouch! when will pain go away? should i go on another 7 days of meds prescribed?

Unfortunately for some patients, pain can continue for weeks or more after shingles heals, a condition called post-herpetic neuralgia. Nine days is too soon to know if this is the problem or if the infection is not healing and needs more antiviral drug (valacyclovir or acyclovir). If new sores are continuing to appear, probably you need new treatment. Either way, you need to see your doctor.
