Off-label use: It is an off-label use. Many drs use psychiatric and other meds this way sometimes for a particular case. It is not less safe necessarily in a sense (new indications for meds are approved over time), but this means fda approval does not currently include such indication. Ask you dr. Best wishes.

I haven't used this : Med. Saphris (asenapine) is for tx of psychosis (i.e., schizophrenia or bipolar disorder). I don't see any psychiatric conditions listed for you. My guess is that it is being used off label due to the side effect of drowsiness. Have you had lots of unsuccessful trials of other meds for your insomnia? Your doctor knows you & probably knows best but it looks like a big gun to use for insomnia.
