Varies: There are a number of people who can function well without an acl, particularly if they are low demand people. The anterior cruciate ligament is a prime stabilizer of the knee and so the biggest risk is recurrent instability leading to premature cartilage or meniscal wear or even tears to the meniscus or other structures during periods of subluxation. Thank you for the question.
