Slowly w/ patience: Is there a respected elder who can be a bridge? If mom reads, you might try to compose as long a note as necessary to show how well you understand what went wrong and how you've decided to make specific changes to avoid it and other such things. How much you learned from it and value the societal norms. You might ask her for what would help her begin to trust. Best wishes.
