A member asked:

My mother tsh value is 18.9 and t3 (liothyronine) and t4 are normal. doctor gave her thyroxin but there is no weight gain in her case. is it still hypothyroidism ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Hi. Your mom has subclinical hypothyroidism (elevated TSH is pushing the remaining thyroid cells hard enough to keep T4 and T3 (liothyronine) in the normal range), but it's definitely hypothyroidism (assuming no lab error).I agree with her doc...I would treat her also. Good luck to her!
