Need Eight hours: The minimum fasting period is eight hours. If you get your blood drawn after 9:00 am, you should be okay. It is preferable to have a 12 hour fast.

Hypoglycemia. 5 hour fasting glucose test caused episode, low blood sugar and insulin at time of episode. Insulinoma ruled out. What else could it be?
