A member asked:

Male 26. did routine cbc. esr is 55. monocyte is 0. is this problematic? in which cases can esr and monocyte alert a problem? thank you

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Lab error: The monocytes almost never disappear with the rest of the white cells normal & the person apparently healthy. If the lab counted 100 white cells, dumb luck could have missed a monocyte. If this is a computerized count, suspect instrument error. Stop worrying. I'd also ignore the "high sed rate" unless you have reason to think you are actually sick. Focus on yourself, not these numbers.
